What's in a Name?

Today I thought I would let you all in on the meaning behind "Evexia Osteopathy!"

Three years ago while I was at school in Toronto, I decided that I was going to start my own osteopathic clinic. After making that decision, I then had to decide on a business name. I googled and googled and when I came across the word "evexia" a light bulb went on inside my head! I thought it had a nice ring to it. So I had the first name of my new business, but then I had to decide on what would come after it.

Did you know that my business' true name is called Evexia Health Inc? I chose this name because I have big visions of one day being a multi-disciplinary clinic that offers more than just osteopathy. Having 'health' in the name would suggest there's more to it than just one type of therapy. And health is a pretty broad word, so the future clinic could be more than just therapies as well. Who said getting our nails done isn't healthy?! But for now, Evexia Osteopathy works, as the name says exactly what it is we do right now.

So, back to the name Evexia. I came across this word after googling "other words for wellness/health/well-being/etc." Evexia is Greek for well-being. (Have you noticed that the letters in our logo are Greek letters?!). I thought 'well-being' was the perfect term to represent the core values I wanted to bring to the table (no pun intended). Well-being is defined as the state of being happy, healthy or comfortable.

Which brings me to my next point. For a while now I've wanted to incorporate evexia/well-being on to clothing. I wanted to get the point across that here at Evexia, we strive for happiness and comfort while a client is here for treatment, and that the ultimate goal is for the client to be healthy. For me, healthy means a client can get back to their morning walks, or go to sleep without waking throughout the night because of pain, or whatever a clients goal may be. Because when a person is happy and comfortable, they're at their healthiest point.

In saying this, I introduce you to the Well-Being tees and crews! What's a more meaningful statement to have on a shirt?!
